The time for the celestial event is drawing nearer. On Monday, April 8, a total solar eclipse, when the moon passes between the sun and the earth, completely blocking the sun, crosses North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada.

According to NASA, the eclipse will enter the U.S. in Texas and travel through Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. Small parts of Tennessee and Michigan are also on the path. Most places will experience a totality anywhere between 3.5 and 4 minutes.

The next time a total solar eclipse occurs in the contiguous U.S. is in 20 years, August 23, 2044.
