HOW IT ALL BEGAN
We were young, newly married, and on a budget (like most newly married young couples). This did not stop us from wanting to get out and explore. We soon realized there were so many places to see and explore that we could reach by car.

Born and raised in the south (Florida and Georgia) we mapped out just how far in all directions we could drive for a "few days here" and a "few days there" making it pretty affordable.
​
We were in the middle of ten beautiful Southern states full of soul, magical stories, beautiful scenery, the best food, history and attractions. We decided to share the possibilities of traveling on a budget and our SHM family grew. With the best writers and story tellers we go and share the South so you can experience it too.

We are the only travel environment the focuses solely on the South and all it has to offer. We fell in love with these ten states and you will too.
While others chase the obvious, we dig into the soul of the South — the unexpected joys, the locals-only spots, and the stories that make you want to pack the car and go.

Our goal is hospitality ... for travelers and for hospitality professionals. We create content that delights leisure travelers *and* hopefully equips industry professionals with shows, trends, highlights and partnerships to bring our visitor to see them.
