Give a Cheer, July is Here

July brings in the heat and some fun events as well.

Of course, there are many Fourth of July celebrations happening throughout the South, like Jefferson City's (Missouri) Salute to America, Independence Day Celebration at America Village in Montevallo, Alabama, Ponce City Market Fourth of July in Atlanta, Clearwater (Florida) Celebrates America, Freedom Festival in Jacksonville, North Carolina, Big Stone Gap's (Virginia) Independence Day Extravaganza. For something different, there's the Avoyelles Arts & Music Festival in Marksville, Louisiana, the Hot Chicken Festival in Nashville and the Museum of Appalachia Independence Day Anvil Shoot in Tennessee, all on July 4.

With all the excitement of celebrating Independence Day, don't overlook the Key Lime Festival (July 3 - 7) in Key West, Florida, the 40th Annual Our Lady of the Gulf Crab Festival (July 4 - 7) in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, and the Ocean City Jazz Festival (July 5 - 7) in North Topsail Beach, North Carolina.

Patriotic pride continues with Red, White and Blues Week (July 10 -13) in Pensacola Beach, Florida, with four days of Blue Angels performing high-flying acrobatics over the Gulf and more.

July fun rolls on with the Red River Balloon Rally (July 12 -13) in Bossier City, Louisiana, the Legends of Whiskey Festival (July 13) in Kansas City, Missouri, and Kentucky Bands, Bourbon and Wine Festival (July 13) in Oak Grove.

Ernest Hemingway look-alikes take over Key West, Florida, July 16 -21, during the Hemingway Days.

Slow down and explore downtown Covington, Louisiana, during the 7th annual Kokomo Stroll on July 20.
